CONSTRUCTION SAFETY CAREER PATH

Safety Professional Career Roadmap
Safety Professional · Technician → Consultant · Veteran-Owned · Construction Safety
Most safety companies will tell a candidate there is room to grow. Very few will show them the ladder. This is ours: seven tiers, four role families, six promotion events, and roughly eight to ten years from entry to safety consultant. Every gate is written down, including the certifications, the experience, and what gets reviewed before anyone advances. Safety Technician I, entry, year 0 to 1.5. Required at hire: OSHA 30-Hour Construction, and First Aid, CPR, AED. High school diploma, associate degree preferred. Recommended in year one: Competent Person training across fall protection, excavation, confined space, and scaffolding, plus NFPA 70E electrical safety awareness. Safety Technician II, senior technician, year 1.5 to 2. Target 18 to 24 months: OSHA 510, OSH Standards for the Construction Industry, and HAZWOPER 24-Hour. Reviewed through a supervisor field observation log, six-month and annual performance reviews, and a readiness assessment for the specialist role.
Safety Specialist I, year 2 to 3. Two or more years of cumulative safety experience, CHST study and exam preparation, site inspections and toolbox talk delivery. Safety Specialist II, year 3 to 4. CHST earned, required within six months of eligibility. STS-C, Safety Trained Supervisor Construction. Degree in occupational safety or construction management preferred, ASP preferred if degreed, HAZWOPER 40-Hour preferred, C-MESH for North Carolina operations. Safety Manager, mid-level, year 4 to 6. Three or more years of dedicated safety experience, a bachelor's degree as the BCSP requirement on the CSP pathway, ASP maintained while pursuing CSP, site safety program management and incident investigation. Senior Safety Manager, year 6 to 8. OSHA 500 trainer course, EM 385-1-1 USACE safety and health requirements, supervisory and team leadership experience. Safety Consultant, senior, year 8 and beyond. Seven or more years safety and ten or more years construction experience, CSP required, multi-account work, staff mentorship, and client-facing safety program development. This roadmap is a guide to professional growth at United Front Safety Solutions, not a contract, a guarantee of promotion, or a promise of continued employment. Advancement depends on individual performance, demonstrated readiness, and business need. Every credential named here, with issuers, timelines, and prerequisites, is listed on our certification requirements page. Open roles are on our careers page.
