THE STANDARD
WHAT OSHA REQUIRES OF OPERATORS
FORMAL INSTRUCTION
Lecture, discussion, written material, and video covering the standard, the equipment, and the hazards on your site. This is the classroom portion, and it is the part an online course can cover.
PRACTICAL TRAINING
Demonstrations by the trainer, then exercises performed by the operator. Your crew puts hands on the machine and runs it under supervision before anyone signs anything.
WORKPLACE EVALUATION
- Performed where the operator works
- On the equipment they will run
- Observed by a qualified evaluator
- Documented, and the record is yours
- Repeated at least every three years
- Sooner after an incident or a change

Three parts to every certification day, and the third one is the part that makes it count.
NEW OPERATOR DAY
Full day, up to 10 operators.
For operators with no experience and no prior certification. Classroom instruction, a written knowledge test, the equipment inspection process, and practical application testing. Each additional operator is $190.
REFRESHER DAY
Half day, up to 8 operators.
For operators who have both experience and a current or prior certification. Equipment inspection review and practical application testing. Each additional operator is $125.
WHAT YOU PROVIDE
The equipment, on site.
All equipment has to be available on site for the practical portion, because the evaluation only counts when it happens on the machines your operators run. We bring the instruction, the testing, the documentation, and the cards.

EVERY EQUIPMENT TYPE
Five machines, one day rate.
Aerial lift (boom lifts), scissor lift (MEWP), telehandler and forklift, skid steer, and excavator, all $1,900 for a new operator day and $1,000 for a refresher. Forklift and scissor lift seat up to 10 new operators, $190 for each additional. The other three seat 8, $238 for each additional. Refreshers seat 8 on every machine, $125 for each additional. Any two types combine into one day: $3,200 for up to 6 operators ($534 each additional), or $1,600 for up to 10 on a refresher ($160 each additional).
IF AN OPERATOR STRUGGLES
We stop and coach.
If an operator makes mistakes on the practical, we stop, coach them through what went wrong, and give them an opportunity for remediation. The military teaches to a standard and does not move on until the standard is met. We run a practical the same way.
TRAVEL AND SCHEDULING
Four states, and we travel.
We run equipment training across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia, and our trainers go further when a job calls for it. Past 50 miles from Greenville, add $250 per day for hotel and meals plus $0.77 per mile. Cancellations inside 48 hours are non-refundable, and reschedules inside 48 hours carry a $250 change fee.

QUESTIONS WE GET
HOW LONG IS A FORKLIFT CERTIFICATION GOOD FOR?
Three years. Re-evaluation is also required sooner if the operator is in an accident or near miss, is observed operating unsafely, is assigned a different type of truck, or if conditions at the site change.
DOES OSHA ISSUE FORKLIFT LICENSES?
No. OSHA does not license operators and does not approve training providers. Under 29 CFR 1910.178(l), which reaches construction through 1926.602(d), the employer certifies that the operator was trained and evaluated and keeps that record. The card we issue documents it.
CAN OUR OPERATORS CERTIFY ONLINE?
Online coursework can cover the formal instruction. It cannot cover the practical training or the workplace evaluation, and the standard requires all three. Whatever an online course costs, the evaluation still has to happen on your site.
DO YOU TRAIN AT YOUR FACILITY OR OURS?
Yours. Equipment training runs at your job site, because the practical testing has to happen on the equipment your operators will be running. You provide the equipment, we bring everything else.
HOW MANY OPERATORS IN ONE DAY?
Up to 10 for a forklift new operator day and up to 8 for a refresher. Beyond that, each additional operator is $190 for a new operator day and $125 for a refresher.
